Malta Lotteries

A national lottery was established as a Maltese government monopoly in 1934 and was run by the Department of Public Lotto. In February 2004, MALTCO Lotteries Limited gained an exclusive license to operate all national lottery games in Malta. The company is currently operating most of the games that were previously operated by the Department of Public Lotto. These games include the Super 5 Lottery, the Lotto, instant lotteries (Scratchers) and the recently launched Fixed-Odds Betting UBET.

In 2012, MALTCO was able to renew its lottery license for another 10 years in a competitive bidding process.
